We will harvest vegetables from the gardens and visit the chickens, then create a beautiful meal out of our harvest. Each workshop will focus on a specific entrée with 2-3 complimentary sides. We will prepare and cook our meal in the farmhouse kitchen, then weather permitting eat outside next to the gardens under our big oak tree. For those who are interested, dinner can be followed by a walk around the farm and the 7 acres of woods. All workshops can accommodate vegan and gluten free diets if given 3 day prior notice. For an additional farm experience considering adding on a night of camping, see the farm listed here: https://www.hipcamp.com/maryland/eaters-acres/eaters-acres-farm-camp For the Shakshuka workshop we will be harvesting vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and greens. We will be making a traditional shakshuka as well as a couple other variations. Then we will also make other side dishes that will be a perfect compliment to round out the meal.
Your host, Catherine, is the co-manager of Eaters Acres, check out the farm's Facebook page for more on the farm as well as many of her cooking favorites. She has 12 years of organic farming experience and has been busy in the kitchen since she could stand next to her mother and grandmother, about 35+ years. The focus of her cooking is on whatever is coming from the garden & nearly all vegetarian. She loves traditional recipes, the family favorites as well as create and re-create new dishes -then share them with family & friends. Most everything in her life has always been about food.
