Take a once in a lifetime, eye opening, mind blowing walking tour of the red hot Wynwood Arts District with a renowned international Street Artist with current massive scale murals in the area that will be featured on the tour. The tour culminates at the world famous Wynwood Walls Outdoor Museum and Galleries. You will learn how the Street Art movement got started and how it became the global culture phenomenon it is today. You are not taking a tour with a professional tour guide or with a tour guide that dabbles in the arts, instead you will be guided by a working street artist who does tours around his art career. There are many others so called experts giving tours and some are quite decent and knowledgeable but what I’m offering with this tour, the insiders perspective, is absolutely unique. You will learn about the tense relationship between Graffiti and Street Art cultures, how they interact and overlap, in what ways they differ and why that distinction is so important. You will walk away with a full understanding of the processes, techniques and current trends of the movement, how the pieces are created, sometimes commissioned, sometimes sponsored and sometimes in total anonymity. You’ll have a deeper appreciation for the elusive street artist culture and what drives it. Welcome to my world.
I’m Hec, a Miami based street artist and eighties graffiti pioneer. I’m also the founder of the Loveism Movement and have completed several massive Loveism murals in Wynwood, around the country and as far away as Dubai. Do an online image search for “Loveism” or “heconelove”. I’ll answer questions and demystify our culture with my extensive experience on the subject of Street Art, Graffiti and Miami graffiti history in particular. I have been spraying paint on Miami walls since 1983, in fact I’m the person who started Miami’s very first Graffiti Wall of Fame back in 1985. I personally know most of the well known Street Artists and Graffiti Writers so besides giving generic information about the artworks, I will also provide personal anecdotes of my interaction with those artists when they come to Miami or when we meet up in other cities
We will start in Wynwood’s westside, by the old RC Cola plant, walk along Miami’s Graffiti Wall of Fame, my LOVEISM wall, the iconic Miami Boombox and see hundreds of works along the way before we reach Wynwood Walls and adjacent Galleries where we will cool off in the AC while admiring paintings and other unique art works available for sale by the same artists we just learned about on the streets.
