You will be welcomed to our space and will be given a tour of our working studio, gallery, and kiln area to have an insider's view of how pottery is made. Your instructor is a working Atlanta ceramic artist, our studio is an incubator for those launching careers as instructors and as artists selling their work. We'll have a short demonstration then a studio artist will guide you to make pots of your own. You will make 2-3 pots over the course of the next hour+ then you will get to select your own glaze colors for us to finish and fire your work. Since pottery takes several weeks to dry, then proceeds with two firings - pottery that you make during your event will be ready in about 6 weeks. If you are picking up locally there is no further fee. Sometimes we can give an estimate for US shipping rates while you are here, international deliveries will require more exacting details for shipping rates and will require a follow-up email and/or invoice. Average US shipping is between $15 and $20. Please no kids only bookings. This event is intended for adults or adults with kids, but no kids alone - we aren't babysitting we're making pots! Kids 8+ welcome with adults.
I've been working with clay since 1999 in the retail ceramic supply industry and have been a studio owner since 2013. I co-own MudFire pottery studio in Decatur GA with my partner. I am a published author in the ceramic field and work on large scale commission and restaurant pottery projects. Our space is home to resident artists who are learning the craft of pottery and starting small businesses on their own - they will instruct your learning experiences. I just wrote my first book on the topic of ceramic glazes available on Amazon - Off the Shelf / Outside the Box.

We will be primarily in the main studio as well as our gallery and kiln space. We do have an outdoor patio and you are welcome to enjoy time there before or after your experience.
最多可有8位年满8周岁的参与者参加。 Guests should be comfortable getting their hands (and possibly clothing) dirty. Clay will wash out/of but is a messy process.
Pottery will take about 6 weeks to dry, bisque fire, and glaze fire. We can provide a shipping quote via email once your work is fired so it can be shipped to you via USPS. Local pickup is free
