We will meet at the location of the farm, do a meet and greet of all guests, and walk the tropical permaculture farm. It is an interactive tour where guests can share their knowledge about different plants they grow at home and your host, Maddy, will share about those that are grown on site. We will pick fresh tropical fruits that are in season and conclude the tour with a fresh fruit tasting alongside a cacao and chocolate tasting. You will learn all about the variety of terroirs that Big Island has and how cacao, coffee and wine are similar.
Maddy & Jahnavi
Maddy loves all things chocolate! Active member of the East Hawaii Cacao Association, cacao farmer, and Cacao Bean Judge at the Big Island Chocolate Festival – Maddy has extensive knowledge of the Hawaii Island chocolate scene. Known as “the chocolate lady” or “Barefoot Chocolatini” around town, she’s studied chocolate from bean to bar for 10 years and specifically Hawaiian chocolate for the past 4 years. Maddy’s East Hawaii’s go-to resource for all things chocolate.
The farmers are dedicated to providing experiential education in the areas of health & wellness, social permaculture, leadership, sustainability, and personal & collective growth. They grow their own extensive vegetable garden and tropical food forest containing cacao. They process it and make their own bean-to-bar chocolates each week.
