Yes, there is wine in Istria. Really good wine. It is grown here since the Romans arrived in Pula 2000 years ago. The Emperor himself knew about wine from the Roman province called “Histria”. Nowadays, a new generation of winemakers is rethinking traditional Istrian winemaking methods of their grandfathers by introducing different new styles and approaches. One of the newest hypes are the organic wines. However, at the three wineries we will visit, there are different sorts of wines you are going to try. From young and fresh wines, to aged, and one of those “organic” wines. Don’t expect the big and the known wineries. Rather, imagine yourself drinking finest Istrian wines in a small cellar at a wooden table. Or while sipping a fresh Malvazija you are listening to nature because you are in the middle of Istrian landscape. When making a reservation, you can choose, would you like to go up north Istria or stay around Pula and explore our south wine region. Though different in taste because of different soil/terroir, either way you will no go wrong
Hi, am Loreena and I will be your friendly face of Istrian Wine & Food. Apart from being an F&B Manager, I am also a self-proclaimed gourmet Indiana Jones and passionate wine & ford explorer. Maybe I am obsessed with homemade local produces, but do not worry, it will not be scary :-) I invite travelers coming to Istria, the green Mediterranean of Croatia, to take my Wines Unknown Tour or one of my other tours and learn how we eat, drink and live on the largest peninsula of Adriatic sea, as we local call it MAGIC ISTRIA All programs are private experiences designed.
