First, I will give you a quick tour of the workshop and the equipment available. I will also explain health & safety issues of working with glass and lead. I'll show you how to 'cut' glass and let you practise to give you confidence to cut out various shapes. Pieces that students have made in the past are snowmen, church bells, baubles and even holly leaves and snow flakes; I have a small library of pictures to give you ideas, or you can look on the internet for inspiration. You can choose some glass and start your own designs. I have all sorts of accoutrements for you to try out.... copper wire and mesh, silver stars, costume jewelry, glitter to name but a few. Your design(s) will probably need to be copper foiled and soldered, and i will show you how to do this. There is also the option of making a decoration using fusible glass (i.e. glass that is fired in the kiln) - ask me about this if you are interested. Please note: The fee for the workshop includes 2 tree decorations to take home. If you want to make more, they are chargeable at £5 each.
I have attended many glass courses myself, including glass fusing, painting on glass and copper foiling. Christmas decorations are a speciality of mine and I have successfully made and sold hundreds of them. As well as making traditional trees and santas, I like to try out new ideas - my current creation is the 'blue angel'. Last year it was a 'santa with attitude'. I am also a qualified teacher and can explain everything you need to know in a clear and logical way.

The workshop is separate from the house and has everything you will need to create art glass. I set up the workshop with training in mind. The benches are large to accommodate students. The room is painted white inside and out and has lots of windows to show off the coloured glass. There is a glass grinder, a light box, glass cutting tools and safety equipment.
You don't need to have worked with glass before, or have any artistic flair to produce lovely decorations, but if you do, the results should be spectacular.
