体验内容
How important is the sound when you visit a place? Does it stay in your memory, would you stop and genuinely focus on listening? Blinking an eye to Murray Schaefer's script "The Soundscape: Our Sonic Environment and the Tuning of the World," I will guide you through a Roman soundwalk. Every soundwalk is different and will follow a scheme of instructions prepared as a score by myself.
The walk may be shaped by an algorithm (f.e. 'turn right or left every 100 steps', or 'stop every 50 steps', or 'turn when you hear a song/car horn/whistle' etc.): in this case, you will know what to look for, but not where you are going. Alternatively, the walk may follow a predetermined route that will take you to already tested points of the city, full of exciting sounds: in this case, you will know exactly where to go, but not what you will listen. Results can be surprising anyway. It will probably change your perception of the space you cross and open you to creative hearing.
Other things to note
The experience is for specific places and times: punctuality is needed.
Participants should be able to walk for about 2 hours and climb stairs (at their speed).

I am a professional music composer and orchestral conductor. I was born and raised in Rome, and by visiting many countries for work and study, I became a major traveler. I have imagined my soundwalks as treasure-hunts, in which the sound is the silver thread, and its discovery is a surprise. I am keen on theatrical and collaboratory projects, I believe in shared creativity, as well experimenting with non-musicians: that's why I am sharing site-specific sound experiences with you when I am in my hometown.

罗马
This period soundwalks move from the hill of Pincio.
In general, we stay in the city centre, exploring routes of listening-connected interest: fountains, esplanade, squares, churches, but also narrow alleys. How far we go, will depend on the score of the day!

- During our unhurried walk Sara introduced me to the concept of sound ecology and showed many beautiful places I would never get to discover on my own. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our walk, which included not only listening to the city sounds around us, but also to the sound of our own voices, i.e., talking :). If you are in a mood for a couple of quiet hours of strolling, standing, sitting and listening to your surroundings and yourself, Sara is your person!
- My wife Emma and I did the sound walk with Sara and it was a lovely experience. I'm a musician and my wife is a singer, so we really appreciated the opportunity to experience Rome through the ears of a composer such as Sara who has put a lot of thought into how to curate the city via sound. Recommended as an excellent alternative way to see the otherwise very touristy part of downtown Rome
- The sound walk with Sara is a beautiful experience both visually and sonically! The route was so well designed with a special handmade map. The timing was perfect - locations and sounds matched so well. Having done the sound walk really made us more aware of the sounds around us during the rest of our trip in Italy. Thank you Sara! Highly recommended!
