Belém is a must‐see location for visitors and tourists looking to discover Lisbon’s ancient foundations. This tour will take you back in time to XV Century where we can admire the first footprints of the Portuguese Empire. As we stroll along the tranquil banks of the Tagus River you can expect to see such incredible monumental statues, the Belém Tower and the Presigious Padrão dos Descobrimentos translated as the Monument to The Discoveries, which provides as a proud symbol of Portuguese Geographical Discoveries. Following on, the next remarkable sight on our itinerary will be the Jeronimos Monastary, a beautiful building dedicated to Santa Maria de Belém and a proudly classified World Heritage site by International organisation UNESCO. A very significant characteristic about this Monastery to admire is its unique Manuelin Architecture style. From this location, we will take a short refreshment break where an opportunity to taste an authentic Portuguese Pastel De Belém will become available. Within this district, the beautiful gardens of Praca do Imperio spread out wide and offer as a relaxing environment for people to gather, eat, and bask in the sun. At these gardens the tour will conclude, here you can stay and enjoy these gardens or alternatively we can advise you on further exploration or the nearest public transport services.
Hello, my name's Mafalda Pinto! I was born in Mozambique but, at the age of two, my family came to Lisbon. From that day on, Lisbon is my city: I know all the gardens, people, cats, and dogs! I lead a Tourism agency since 2011. I work with a team of enthusiastic guides who speak different languages and different specializations, such as Beatriz (Arts & History), Stefano (History) or Rui (Cultural Journalism), Catarina (Tourism) and many more. We all work hard to prepare great experiences for you! We love sharing our vision of this beautiful city with visitors who wish to discover Lisbon from an authentic point of view! Come with us and enjoy your trip to wonderful Belém district!
