Our walking tour begins at Fernwood Square, the heart of Fernwood, where you will have the chance to stop in at a few local businesses and receive exclusive discounts. Next, we venture down Fernwood Road to see some very avant-garde architecture (hint: one of the homes is made from shipping containers!) before continuing on our route which includes an introduction to Fernwood's intriguing architecture, botanical life, and history. Highlights include: +Beautifully restored homes that date back to the 1880's; +A house of worship modeled after the Pantheon in Rome; +A century-old brick schoolhouse that was the set of the 2000 hit movie Scary Movie; +A fire hall built in 1899; +Stories of murder, mystery, and misfortune; +And much more! Please note: If you are wanting a day/time not currently posted on our schedule, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.
Hi and welcome to Victoria, the capital city of beautiful British Columbia! My name is Adrien Leduc, I am a proud local yokel, and I would love the opportunity to show you around Fernwood, a neighbourhood that means a lot to me. Vibrant, eclectic, and picturesque, the Discover Fernwood experience combines history, art, food, and fun! I hope you'll join me for this experience! **A note on food. There are several spots to get a coffee or bite to eat. I'm happy to show you - and we can stop if you like - but the rate I've set for this tour doesn't cover the cost of food.**
Fernwood, one of Victoria's earliest neighbourhoods. Established in the 1880's, Fernwood boasts wide, tree-lined streets and Pinterest-worthy character homes. Walk includes churches, old homes and buildings with lots of history, a community garden, and a 100-year old brick school.
I am more than happy to make accommodations for children and seniors. Total walking distance approximately 3 km (2 miles) with no difficult terrain. Wheelchair accessible.
