Our experience is for the curious, the bold, and the spirited wanting to explore a truly dark place with a terrible past that will trigger the most daunting feelings.
We'll start off with a quick overview of our older much more glorious history, explaining how Bucharest developed during the past 500 years and how the city's fortification system was built.
The experience is focused on a visual story (photo/video) about an unusual site: we invite you into the largest prison in Bucharest area, and a 19th century military fort turned into a communist torture and execution camp!
* The tour contains explicit details that may be emotionally challenging and some viewers may find it disturbing.
We will flag especially the content that discusses tortures applied during interrogations and will do our best to make this experience a space where we can engage empathetically and thoughtfully with the topic.

- The was a very powerful, unique and enlightening experience. I learned so much about the history of Bucharest and the impact of communism on Romania. The subject matter could be difficult and disturbing at some points, but it was immersive and honest. I left with a deeper appreciation of the struggles of the Romanian people in the 20th century. Highly recommend.
- This was a very informative, moving and thought provoking experience. Mircea was informative and insightful and to hear about the more recent events in Bucharest from someone who has lived through the experience made it all the more meaningful. Mircea started the experience giving the background to Romania and Bucharest which really helped to put it all into context, thoroughly recommend this experience.
- Truly in-depth experience Mircea is an amazing host , his knowledge regarding Bucharest and the prison camp is top edge. The sad reality presenting the past of the communist regime is heartbreaking , as it offer a glimpse of the cruelty which many of Romanian intellectuals had to taste Makes me value more present times and be more great full Thanks a mill for this experience Mircea Wish you all the best !
- This experience was a revelation. I read many pages about the different forms of gulag and re-education prisons behind the Iron Curtain. But this was very close to the real life experience. Also, very encompassing overview of Romanian history. And good conclusion of the host, that lessons must be learned from this dark period.
- Mircea introduced not only the stories behind the Fort 13 prison but also the Romanian history. Given the topic, this was of course not a relaxing experience, but I definitely learned a lot from it. Mircea did a great job explaining the details and conditions of the prison. For people who hesitate to register, the videos and pictures were not very scary. It was the description of the torture and the documentary of the guard that could be emotionally challenging. Great experience overall!
