We will enjoy a relaxing walk on the other side of the river Arno, through the real heart of Florence, the Oltrarno quarter, “the old town” for florentines! I will take you to see masterworks of architecture and art related to the most important artists of the Renaissance like Brunelleschi and Michelangelo. As you breath-in the spirit of Florence while walking its ancient streets, you will discover the origin of the Renaissance and learn of its unique history and important works of art. There are many wonderful treasures to be seen on “the other side” and interesting stories to tell; stories linking the past to the present. This is a walk starting just in the heart of Florence and yet almost in the countryside, that reaches the ancient wall of the old town. As an italian artist, historian, and 40 year resident of Florence who loves her city, I will reveal to you captivating stories of the life and times of the great Renaissance Masters and how they changed the world and continue to influence contemporary Florence. There will be time to sample a typical local snack that, in its simplicity and taste, reminds us of the Renaissance too!
I raised in Florence where I studied History and Art at the university, and where I became a painter! I’m a official tourist guide too. I really love speaking about my passions, history and art and sharing them with other people. I’m a curious person and lover of other countries culture. I love travelling and whenever I am ... I love eating!
We start from one of the most beautiful squares in Florence, Santo Spirito, the heart of the Oltrarno quarter, rich in history and charm. We journey through ancient streets and palaces, the Pitti Palace, Santa Felicita, Old Bridge, then continue through wonderful winding, narrow streets to the ancient wall of Florence. Beside its old medieval towers we’ll finish on the Santa Trinita bridge, the perfect place to admire Florence along the Arno!
