Get ready for the Year of the Rat! The best place to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Philadelphia is in its own Chinatown! Join in with the brightly-colored marchers and enthusiastic crowds as we ring in the new year. The streets will be full of colorful dragons, traditional lion dances, and firecracker accented parades. 1/26/20 @10am are Vegan Chinese dumpling class only. 3/14/20 @3pm mochi making (red bean paste filling), @5pm dumpling making Come to learn to make your own at the Dumpling Academy, the home of the dumpling queen, in Philly Chinatown! I will teach you how to fill and shape your own pot stickers and more in an authentic way. At the event, we may use either pre-made wrappers or hand-make wrappers ourselves. I will send you an ingredient list prior to the class. Message me for your special diet needs. Making dumplings is a group activity for coworkers/team building, family and friends - SUPER FUN! As a dumpling expert and the founder of Dumpling Academy, I host classes based on the iconic food. I have hosted the dumpling making show at the Reading Terminal Market as its guest chef for Chinese New Year. I was also interviewed by “What’s Cooking” on 1060 by Hadas Kuznits, of the Philadelphia (CBS) KYW radio station about Chinese New Year. In early 2017, I was invited by Travel & Adventure show, to host a dumpling making competition in the PA Convention Center. I also operate the "Five Spice Tour of Philly's Chinatown" - cultural walking tour with dim sum tasting to Philly Chinatown.
Our dumpling class will be held in Philly Chinatown. Chinatown is a bustling showcase of Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean cultures and cuisines. Beyond the gilt-painted Friendship Gate are streets packed with restaurants and bars. Eclectic shops sell items that range from hand-stretched noodles to colorful trinkets.
