I run half-day walking tours through the Monocacy Battlefield located just outside Frederick, MD. In this 2 1/2 hour experience, guests will learn about the amazing people who clashed in an American moment that historians have called the "Battle that Saved Washington."
Philosophically I believe that a tactile learning experience, that of touching and physically being present in a location, gives a greater depth of learning and aids profoundly in our understanding of the world. I have had my greatest teaching experiences while on study abroad with students. I hope through this endeavor I can use my experience and knowledge to help guest maximize their experiences.
Other things to note
We will drive between tour stops (less than a 1/2 mile each) and require some walking mostly on level even ground. Please wear appropriate shoe and clothing.

For the last twenty years, I have been a professor of history at various colleges in Maryland. Fourteen years ago I became a full time associate professor at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. Over last twelve years I have had the privilege of running over twenty study abroad classes to five different countries (Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Turkey and the United Kingdom). I have also taken students on dozens of day trips to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, and Baltimore as well as numerous Civil War Battlefields. I have also helped run dozens of camping trips and outings for my sons’ scout troop.
