We will meet at my home in West Sedona, where the group will spend a few moments getting to know one another over coffee or tea. During this time, if you have any specific health goals regarding plant medicine, we will decide on the best approach for the day's medicine making. Along the way, you will learn about the trees, plants, history and geology of the area. One of my favorite topics is the medicine and mythology of trees, evidenced in cultures and native medicines from around the world - unsung healing superheros; both the heart and backbone of the Wood Wide Web :) As we learn about the local trees and herbs, we will be working with the ingredients you’ve just learned about, which I have gathered and made ready. You will learn how to make a pinõn pine salve out of pine sap and beeswax (or plant based wax if you’re vegan), and you will make a jar of your own wild Sedona medicine to take home with you. We will make “Tree Tea” out of various medicinal tee parts native to Sedona, and sweeten it with local honey or maple syrup. Supplies are ethically and sustainably wild harvested. All supplies are provided for you.
A true local, I’ve lived in Sedona my whole life. As a child, I spent most of my time outdoors, either on my horse, my mountain bike or my own two feet. I learned about all the wild medicine surrounding me on the go, and often by necessity. Cut or bug bite? Pine sap to the rescue. Hungry? Plenty of food at hand. Hot summer day and I ran out of water? I know where the secret spots are. As an adult, I formalized my education through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and continued that education into clinical herbalism, with a focus on wild medicine native to Northern Arizona. I've studied healing modalities and approaches from all over the world, and my goal is to bring back the wisdom of the elders, be they Native American, European, South American or Islanders. This world is bursting with wild medicine waiting to be rediscovered.
We will make “Tree Tea” with water from my well, water and local organic coffee is also provided.
Your Sedona medicine maker experience will take place in West Sedona, at my home. We may walk around the property some, in order to learn to identify medicinal trees - and say hello to the horses, if you're so inclined.
