Meeting at the National Trust Carpark outside the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, we'll set off walking into the valleys of Great Langdale and head upland towards our first stop, the hidden gem of Whorneyside Force. Leaving there, we retrace our steps and continue onwards and upwards to Hell Gill. Following the beck we continue to the head of valley and up to 3 tarns. We stop for a bite to eat and take in the views of the higher fells of Scafell, Scafell Pike and Bowfell. Continuing on we head up the gully to the summit of Bowfell past the Great Slab. Here we can grab your summit picture, a memory of your achievement to share with loved ones. Walking off the back off Bowfell, we'll descend to Angle Tarn, a place to stop for refreshments and enjoy the views of Langstrath Valley as it heads towards Borrowdale and Keswick. You have the option to take in another Wainwright in the form of Rossett Pike before we head down Rossett Gill and on to the final straight of Mickleden. The easy path along Mickleden ends in the iconic Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and it's authentic Lakeland watering hole, The Climbers Bar. Generous home cooked food and award winning beers served by some of my dearest friends. If we're lucky there will be music and stories a plenty and maybe the odd local celebrity.
Other things to note
The walk will be strenuous at times as we will walk on some of the highest paths in the Lake District. It can also be unsteady underfoot so good footwear is essential. As with any mountainous area, the weather can change quickly, for your safety the trip may be aborted or cancelled at any time.

I cut my teeth 25 years ago as an outdoors instructor for children with learning disabilities based in Kendal. being so close to the Lake District I found myself gravitating there during my time off. I returned to my home town of Newcastle after 4 years, but continued to visit frequently to walk, hike and visit friends. I spend every weekend in this beautiful part of the world and wander the fells with my 2 dogs. I have a great local knowledge of the mountains and a growing a knowledge of the history of my surroundings. I have a great many friends who call Cumbria home, all with a little something to add to my knowledge and experience of where to go, where to eat and what to do. I also entertain in the local pubs on a evening, so once our days are done I can suggest various places to visit. Cumbria and the Fells are my true home.

Hidden waterfalls, green blue pools to swim, views that take your breath away more than the walk, grand sweeping vistas. Bowfell sits at the head of Great Langdale, an iconic mountain that has been the playground of many a hiker and climber.

- As four middle aged prosecco loving ‘ladies’ we wanted to push ourselves a little bit on our weekend break and do a walk. We knew that left to our own devices we’d be lazy. We booked this experience but then realised the weather forecast was rubbish. We persevered and did the walk. James was lovely and took his time and stopped to tell us information about our surroundings (so we could catch our breath). The area is beautiful, James friendly and knowledgable and takes on board everyone’s level of fitness.
- We really enjoyed our day walking with James. He slightly altered the route due to poor weather conditions, and had been thoughtful in planning how we would still get the best from our day. The views were amazing over Landale and James had brilliant local knowledge which we found very interesting. He was friendly and welcoming and let us go at our own pace. Would recommend
