I will welcome you at my art studio in Pietrasanta with a coffee and after a short description of the place we are I will explain the technique of Human Plaster Casting starting with the basis and the history and tell you about my interpretation and personal experience. This workshop will show you how Art is one way to understand yourself and others trough the concept that beauty lives in every person. After this short introduction we will cast a self portrait in plaster as a real 3D experience. In this session you can choose to cast either your face, your hand or foot. Following the workshop we’ll do a very short writing session to translate your emotions into words to capture the moment. Waiting for the cast to dry we'll go on the main piazza for a round together. Back at the studio you can visit the workplace of established artists and collect your unique masterpiece!
My name is Paola Michela Mineo, I’m 40 years old and an Italian artist who uses cast as a medium to portrait people. I was born near Milan and I studied architecture in Italy and Greece before moving to Pietrasanta with my Danish husband who is a sculptor. I love the sea and everything authentic and mediterranean. My artistic inspiration comes from human relationships.

At my studio you can live the characteristic neighborhood where the ancient marble artisan essence of Pietrasanta is still alive. We’ll going in the main piazza where the most important sculptors and artist in the world had their drinks, including Michelangelo. Back at the studio you’ll have time to visit the workplace and sculpture garden of established artists like Misja Rasmussen and Matteo Lo Greco before taking home your masterpiece.

You can arrive in Pietrasanta with the train from Florence in 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable clothes that you can wash easily. ( you’ll get dirty! )
