We'll start off in the heart of the city at Austin's famed Lady Bird Lake. Both a nature and bird preserve, it's very easy to come across large birds like Vultures, Merlins, and Hawks as well as a plethora of water birds such as Great Blue Herons and Snowy Egrets. We'll also see groups of turtles sunning themselves on fallen trees on the Lake's shore, feel free to take plenty of photos, just don't get too close! From there we'll head to the Barton Creek Greenbelt where we will hike alongside the creek and search beautiful birds like Painted Buntings and Monk Parakeets. Along the way you'll learn about the unique ecosystem of the Texas Hill Country and other flora and fauna that call it home. This a great opportunity to get some fresh air, take some amazing pictures, and learn about Texas' native environment.
I just finished my Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Concordia University here in Austin where I focussed in Ecology. Concordia is one of only schools two in the country that own its own nature preserve. Throughout my last three years I have been able to gain immersive knowledge in the local environment. As part of my degree, I did field work throughout different parts of Texas and was able to gain a well-rounded knowledge of many of the flora and fauna that call Texas home.
Stay refreshed and hydrated with water and complimentary local coffee and tea.
