Yunnan is well-known for its astonishing landscape, diverse culture(26 ethnic groups and hundreds of sub-groups reside in Yunnan Province alone) and a stunning array of food choices. I am based in Kunming. I will take you on a street food feast and a cultural walk through the wet markets, hole-in-the-wall restaurants and narrow alleys in downtown Kunming. We will also stop by a bird and flower market to catch a glimpse of a once-bustling place decades ago which is sadly disappearing and a tea culture museum( prior to booking please note that the museum is closed on Monday) to learn about the history of ancient tea horse road, the process of making Pu'er tea(dark tea) and its different shapes and types. We will stop by a floral pastry shop to taste Yunnan rose pastries and Pu’er tea. During this tour, you will sample many things you have probably never seen elsewhere in the world, learn about the origins, preparations and intriguing stories of the dishes and drinks. On top of that, you will get to interact and connect with the locals and learn what they do day in, day out and walk through the alleyways to see the local houses tucked away from the lively shopping streets.
Born and raised in a small village near the east coast of China and a self- taught fluent English speaker. I love meeting and connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds through food. I have been a street food lover pretty much all my life. I am also a culture aficionado. I have been traveling intensively in China and around the world just to meet the locals, try their food and experience their culture.
