At first glance, Downtown Tulsa seems lifeless and empty, but with a local you’ll know where to find the action. I’ll tell you about our latest and greatest places as well as the history of a city that was world famous 100 years ago. We’ll meet in my favorite coffee shop. It’s inside an Art Deco building from Tulsa’s Oil Capital heyday. After grabbing a cup of whatever gets you going (optional, on you), we’ll explore the Deco District’s most famous landmarks. These include the Philcade, Philtower, Cosden Building, 320 South Boston, BOK Tower and Union Depot. Then we’ll cross the tracks into the Arts District and loop around to the Blue Dome before heading back to where we started.
Hi, I’m Jeffrey! I moved to Tulsa after a cross-country Citi Bike ride to LA from NYC, my hometown. I was a licensed NYC tour guide on red double-decker buses. I also led private walking tours for a NYC guide app I developed. I left the Big Apple behind to settle in a friendlier up-and-coming city called Tulsa. I can’t wait to show you around! I live and work Downtown. I founded Tulsa Tours to connect you with the past and present of this fabulously underrated city.
We’ll bring buildings to life and discuss stories of the oil men who built our most famous buildings • architecture of skyscrapers in the Deco District • early history of Tulsa from cattle town to boom town • Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 • Arts District and Blue Dome food, drink & entertainment options (with my personal recs for all budgets and tastes!) • the Blue Dome to learn the history of Route 66
