On arrival you will have private access to my special little holiday flat here in Falmouth where the workshop will take place in the winter months. In the Summer months we will venture out and you will meet me at my luxury camper van overlooking the beach for a special Cornish experience. We will take a look at anything you have brought with you to recycle, discuss your style, possible ways to recycle it, any ideas for specific pieces you might have. I will talk you through some of my own collection so you can understand how different looks can be created. I will then teach you how to use the tools and all the techniques you will need to create your own piece of unique jewellery. You can make as many pieces as you like within the time, from ear-rings, a necklace, bracelet, anklets, foot jewellery and more. I will be on hand working alongside you, teaching different methods along the way. There will be refreshments provided throughout. You will be able to take all your creations home with you.
I have been creating unique, handmade jewellery from recycled objects and unwanted jewellery since 2013. I started making and designing jewellery in this way after wondering how I could wear some inherited stuff in a way that was more me, and not old fashioned looking. The result was some one off pieces, statement pieces, with a boho and vintage inspired vibe, definitely me. Friends loved it and started asking me if I could up cycle some of their inherited pieces. It took off and Bijou Junkie was born. I have held large group workshops and one to one more personalised workshops, sold at festivals, vintage fairs, craft fairs, on-line, made bespoke items for weddings and other special occasions and continue to make pieces that vary for delicate to bold, anything goes.
Light snacks will be provided, usually in the form of locally made cake or biscuits.
Tea, coffee, water and fruit juice or cordials will be provided throughout.
Jewellery making tools and findings will be provided. I also have a collection of beads and chains that you can use within…
In the cooler months the workshop will take place in my special little holiday flat (The Fal Flat) here in Falmouth, and in the summer months we will take the workshop into my luxury camper van (Vdub Junkie Storm the T5) where I will meet you overlooking the sea somewhere near by. The Fal Flat is a 10 minute walk into town and a 20 minute walk to the beach, so a great place to make it a day out and explore the area after your workshop.
