The experience will last 3 hours. We will meet at St Patrick's Quay at 11am (there is a nice view of the river), and then head up to St Patrick's Hill where we will get a birds eye view of Cork City. After which, we can go to the English Market at noon (something that is entirely unique and special to Cork where you will not be able to find anywhere else) for some food and photos of course. Then, we will go to the city centre in Cork (streets near the Old Oak, Elbow lane) for some photos along the streets of Cork. After which, we will proceed to UCC main campus at 1.30pm (where I study as well). It is a well established university with many years of history. Lastly, we will end the tour with The Lough (a lake further up UCC) where there are swans , ducks, a playground, many pets! The films will be in KodakColor Plus200. Each roll has 36 exposures (36 photos taken) (you can also request if you would like more films taken) and will be developed within 24-36 hours. I will email you the photos after it has been developed! :)
Hi, my name is Xin Lei. I am a full time medical student at University College Cork, and have grown to love taking film photography as a way to destress. I started shooting film about a year ago when I travelled from Singapore to Cork for my studies. my ig: https://www.instagram.com/filmbyxinlei/ I took my camera everywhere - Europe, parks, home to see old friends etc. Photography is a way for me to express my inner reality and taking pictures of the people and places around me fuels that. There is something nostalgic shooting on film - not really knowing what you shot (unlike instant gratification in digital photography), developing it, and the anticipation behind what you shot after sending it to the photo developers. Film helps me capture the atmosphere of different moments and feel the significance of what's happening right now.
Film camera: Canon AE-1 Film: Kodak Colour 200 plus OR Fujicolor c200 (for colour) OR ILford HP5 plus (black and white)…
Photo spots Cork City: 1. St Patrick's Hill: Birds Eye of the city, nice place for picnics etc 2. English Market: great food and adds cultural value to the City 3. Streets near Old Oak and Elbow lane (pubs are Irish culture!) 4. UCC Main campus (beautiful campus! resembles Hogwarts in Harry Potter if you're a potterhead like me!) 5. The Lough: beautiful lake with swans and ducks (many people walk their pets there too). Nice sunset view.
I may not be a professional photographer, but it would be a great experience for both you and me as I am extremely keen and happy to take film photography for you and it is a great way to make a friend in the city who can show you around. It will be fun! :)
