We will evaluate your knowledge about genealogy and your own lineage, then we will check together the basics of genealogy, the sources available in Quebec and New France as well as what the local heritage can offer you. We will also: - Build your ancestors' general portrait - Create a narrative sequence of their arrival and life - Explore what remains of their lives in today's world and how you can experiment Quebec through their eyes Books and tools will be available and we will also visit the Genealogy and Archive Centre at the Laval University to dig up some genealogical treasures!
Bonjour! My name is Audrey and I have been working with clerical archives for years now. I am very passionnate about genealogy and local history. My main goal is to help you find the most information you can about your lineage and help you plan your genealogy trip so you can experience Quebec like your ancestors did :)
We will take the bus (paid) to go to the University. I will also pay your bus ride back in Old Quebec or your hotel.
I will give you access to my genealogy tools and show you where you can find more information. Also, copies will be provided.
We will meet at the Monique-Corriveau Library, an old church transformed into a beautiful library. A space will be rented for us to work in. Then, we can go to the Laval University to browse through the archivesfor anything related to your lineage.
Bringing your own computer would be a good idea
Please note that this activity is most suitable for beginners to intermidiates. If you are an expert looking for precise information, I could still help you find sources and help you translate them, but the experience wouldn't be as rich.
