I want to share the interesting history and culture of Tijuana and Mexico through its food! I have been traveling between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico for over 30 years, and am still inspired by the encounters and experiences to be discovered! Ever since I went to Mexico for the first time in the 1980s I have strived to experience more of Tijuana and more of Mexico. I have studied the Spanish language and Mexican history and art at UNAM in Mexico City, Mexico's top-ranked university. I am a "recovering " lawyer in a previous life.
We will sample pre-hispanic food, and regional specialties from the North, South, East and West of Mexico!
We will sample the pre-Hispanic alcoholic drink Pulque, a pre-Hispanic cocoa drink, Tequila, Mezcal, and traditional and more…
First will be an overview of Mexico at the Tijuana Cultural Center. From there the tour will move onto the Mercado Hidalgo to see a real-life Mexican market and sample local foods. The group will then take public transportation to Revolución Avenue to experience this imitable landmark of Tijuana. The group will end at Telefonica Gastropark to taste "real" Mexican food.
After walking across the border and through Mexican customs, you will come down a walkway and where it ends there will be a lot of taxis. The meeting point is in front of the Farmacia Milenio just across the street.
