Once you arrive, you will meet Hugo & Melani who will take you through the program plan. We will then explain the basics of wax, scents and colours. You will learn the process of making natural colours using herbs and flowers abundant in the tropical island of Sri Lanka. We create our scents blending finest botanical fragrances with essential oils to ensure a long lasting effect. You will be given the opportunity to smell and test a selection of fragrance and essential oils, and we will explain the therapeutic benefits of different essential oils. We will teach you how to combine chosen fragrances with our exclusive blend of plant based, toxin free, eco wax and self-trimming cotton wicks. You will receive tips on candle safety, burning tips and gain comprehensive knowledge of candle making techniques and materials. Once you get familiar with the techniques, we will assist you to make two candles (one 8 ounce and another 2 ounce) in beautiful jars which will illuminate a soft and warm glow to match with any interior. Until the candles are set, you can enjoy refreshments and walk around our warehouse, the team will be happy to answer any questions you have sustainable manufacturing here we do in Sri Lanka.
Hi! We are Hugo Jeremy & Melani G. Hugo set up our company, Parkville, five years ago and Melani joined the team shortly afterwards. Together we are passionate about all things to do with sustainability and zero waste! We focus on workshops that are natural, vegan & chemical free. Parkville is an eco-friendly manufacturer of wooden sunglasses, homeware such as furniture, wooden hairbrushes and accessories. We recently launched our recycling programme to manufacture sunglasses & accessories from recycled flip flops. Our mission is to address the environmental crisis posed by plastic and we work solely with locally sourced & sustainable materials. Our warehouse is where our team experiments with various ideas and designs to promote eco-friendly lifestyles. We specialize in areas such as tree planting, urban gardening and candle making.
