On a 2-hour excursion of Tallinn Old Town I will bring you back to the distant Middle Ages. The unique story of Estonia and Tallinn’s early years will be introduced through colourful legends, exciting facts, myths and arcane folklore. The excursion starts in front of the oldest town hall in Scandinavia and the Baltics. The walk follows the old street grid now enshrined on UNESCO’s heritage list, resembling a visit to an outdoor museum containing rarities. The sights include storied landmarks such as the Raeapteek apothecary shop, the Great Guild, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Toompea Castle, Neitsitorn tower and many others, along with unforgettable panoramas of the lower town and sea from two observation platforms.
Since I remember, I`ve always been interested in history. 2013 I took guide courses, started to work as Tallinn Old Town guide and immediately fell in love with a job. I love to continuously learn about our beautiful city which keeps surprising with it`s interesting stories on every corner. And I love to meet new people who I gladly share my knowledge with.
Before or during the tour we will have one stop to enjoy a hot drink (coffe, tea or mulled wine). In winter time it will be…
We will visit Town Hall Pharmacy, the oldest pharmacy in Europe that has continually operated in the same premises. Then we will walk past the Great Guild, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Toompea Castle, Neitsitorn tower, Danish kings Garden, where the first national flag (Danish flag) was born and arrive to observation platforms with beutiful views. If possible, we will also step into Dome Church, the medieval church from 13 century with great art.
Please dress accordingly to the weather and make sure your shoes are suitable for walking on cobblestones. Thank you! :)
