In a beautiful setting on our farm, I will walk with you through the different gardens and forest to identify our plant friends and share stories of how these plants feed us, heal us and give us inspiration. I see this time together as a way of slowing down in a hectic, overstimulating world, to reconnect with what really matters, and settle into our sense of place. Have you ever wondered what that plant is growing outside your door? This walk will give you helpful information no matter where you live as many of our weeds have naturalized all over planet earth. I will meet you in our parking area and from there we will take a two hour walking tour around the farm engaging with whatever plants and trees call to you. I am available for any questions you may have about specific flora. Also, I am an encyclopedia of land stewarding tips so ask me anything!
Mary And Hart
For 27 years, I have been steeping myself in plants and healing. I lead plant walks that share the knowledge and inspiration I have learned from traveling to Australia, Africa, Central America, Great Britain, Canada and all across the United States to study with indigenous plants and healers. I am the matriarch of a 138-acre farm in Western North Carolina and have been living in harmony with this land since 2005. It has taught me the most about plants as healers and gives me the inspiration to share with you! I can identify pretty much every plant on the property and we have over 700 species growing!!! Each day is spent engaging with the natural world around me so that I can relay the experiences of a sense of place to others, and the abundance nature provides of food, medicine and art, just by taking a walk!
We will nibble from the plants and trees:-)
We will be at Herb Mountain Farm, outdoors, rain or shine. You will walk through edible, medicinal, native and ornamental gardens, orchards, and woods. This experience can happen in the dead of winter, too, as there are always plants and trees to identify and learn from in this region at all times of year!
This experience happens rain or shine, cold or hot, so be prepared for the weather with appropriate clothing and such like raincoat, sunhat, sunhat, water bottle, warm jacket, light clothing what have you. Please do wear comfortable shoes for walking.
Please, absolutely no pets. If you would like to schedule a time other than what we have on the calendar, please message me- I am flexible!
