Our walk will start from Piazza della Repubblica, the oldest and (at the same time) youngest square of Florence. Through the city's amazing architectures, you'll dive into the inner mechanisms that shaped the city, discovering why the Brunelleschi’s Dome was considered something impossible to realize and why Michelangelo called the east doors of the baptistery the Gates of Paradise. We’ll discover Florence's antique way of life walking through the medieval neighborhood, among the centenarian towers where also Dante Alighieri was born. We’ll follow the birth and growing fortune of the Medici family, the historical rulers of the town, through their possessions, from their first residence, the Medici Palace, to the place in which they consolidated their supremacy, Palazzo Vecchio. Of course we won't miss Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air museum filled with some of the most incredible sculptures by Donatello, Michelangelo, Giambologna and Benvenuto Cellini. The goal of our tour is to make you feel familiar with the town, comfortable while you'll be walking on your own, and, hopefully, able to come back in the future and be yourselves a Cicerone for your friends! In the end, we are going to say goodbye on the banks of the Arno river, looking at all the people crowded on the Ponte Vecchio, with a nice cup of coffee in our hands.
We are Aurora & Julinda. We met each other long time ago, during our university times. Thanks to our studies, mutual passions & ambitions, we did encourage each other to learn more about locals & history of our favourite city, so Florence. We did learn a lot about paintings, sculptures, architectures and Tuscan handicraft products. Once we decide to become tour guides, our purpose became satisfying guests' needs and requirements, making your experience in Florence unique and personal. Now our goal is to share our passion, knowledge & our personal point of view directly with the people who would love to spend their time with us, so that, by the end, you'll have also a new friend, that is the real treasure travelling. FYI we are authorized&qualified Florence tour guides. You can always send us a PM for other tours (ex: Uffizi or Accademia)
We will visit Piazza della Repubblica, the very exact point in which the city was founded over 2 thousand years ago; Piazza S. Giovanni with its baptistery; San Lorenzo, the most antique church of Florence; the Medici Palace; Piazza Duomo with the cathedral Saint Mary of the Flower and the Giotto bell tower; Dante's house; via Calzaiuoli; Piazza della Signoria with Palazzo Vecchio; the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio.
