We will bake different types of Swedish cookies and then eat them. :) I will choose some simple recipes that are typical for the season, and that you can try at home later. Now before Christmas we will of course bake and decorate some gingerbread (pepparkakor). Other than that we will make a simple dough that can be transformed into a wide variety of cookies. I'll show you! After about one hour of baking comes the best part when we get to taste all the cookies. Fika time! Of course with some coffee or tea. I will also take the opportunity to tell you more about the fika culture and different types of Swedish cookies and pastries. You will also be provided with recipes for the cookies that we made.
I am passionate about Swedish food! I grew up in a family that was very interested in cooking. So although my profession is being a writer, I have a lot of experience of cooking, baking, and eating Swedish food. To me Sweden has so much more to offer than the famous meatballs or the cinnamon rolls. Fika is one important example and I would love to share some simple recipes for cookies, and some history about the Swedish fika culture with my guests. For the past four years I've also been an Airbnb host in my home. I love the experience of meeting people from all over the world and welcoming them into my kitchen. Since I am from Uppsala, I'm also happy to give tips about things to do around here.
Cookies or other pastries of different types that we bake. These contain flour and butter. Please let me know if there are…
Coffee and tea is included.
The experience takes place in my kitchen. This will also give you an opportunity to visit a regular Swedish apartment. It is located very close to the station in Uppsala. In case the time suggested for the class doesn't suit you, feel free to send me a message and ask if it's possible to do it another time.
