Take a drive to Walker Jewelry Studios in Old Hickory where I make and sell all of my jewelry pieces. I have a separate space used as a community jewelry studio and a teaching room, equipped with everything you will need to get started making jewelry using traditional silver smith techniques. We will begin making our gemstone stacker rings by first picking out which stones you would like to use and some background about stone hardness and qualities. I have a variety of birthstones and colors for you to choose from. Next you will learn to properly size and cut material for your first silver ring. This class is a great setting to learn how to silver solder with control as you will also carefully solder a bezel onto your ring. After polishing the rings you will learn to properly set your cabochon stone using a bezel pusher. If you have already taken my stacker ring class this is a great next class to take! Make 2 sterling silver or silver and brass rings in the 2 hour class. Gemstone options change monthly, although I try to keep a wide variety of options in stock. Message me for special requests!
I fell in love with metal working in 2005 after exploring photography, fine art, glass work, and pottery. I started my company, Walker Jewelry 5 years ago with a passion to share jewelry craft with others. I'm originally from Charleston SC where I began my metalworking career as a coppersmith. Later I was educated in Jewelry craft/design while living in Copenhagen, Denmark. I moved to Nashville with the ambition to start my own ethically sourced and made jewelry company after studying sustainable design. Currently I make custom jewelry, teach make your own wedding workshops, and encourage customers to become apart of the craft process through design and hands on jewelry workshops.
All materials and tools will be provided.
This experience will take you to the old Dupont factory town of Old Hickory TN, about 20 minutes from Downtown Nashville, to my jewelry workshop where I design and fabricate all of my pieces for Walker Jewelry! This area is so unique to explore with some of Nashville's best kept secrets. There is an amazing vintage shop nearby, hair salon, cactus shop, and cross fit gym all owned by young female entrepreneurs like myself.
