Join me for a fused glass coaster workshop in the Jingletown Art Studios located in the vibrant Oakland art community, Jingletown. You’ll begin your experience by choosing a basic design for your coasters or creating a pattern of your own, in either case you’ll pick your colors from an extensive assortment of glass, frit, stringers and rods. Cutting your glass and assembling the pieces will be exciting! The number of coasters you complete in 4 hours is dependent on the complexity of your design and your speed of execution. You can build up to four coasters on the 4 inch square clear glass bases provided. Experience in glass cutting is not necessary. I will give you all help you need. Your coasters will be fired in the kiln the following day and be ready to pick up the day after firing. If you can't visit the studio again , I can ship them to you in a USPS flat rate box at cost.
I was introduced to Glass Fusing in 2012, started fusing glass in my own kilns in 2013. For the past two years I have been casually teaching students and friends. Fused glass has taught me patience and given me great pleasure. I combine and transform both clear and vibrantly colored glass into abstract and functional designs. By varying the number of firings and the firing order of full fusing, tack fusing and slumping, I create a wide array of smooth and textured tokens, ornaments, trinket trays, coasters, tiles, small dishes, plates and platters. A good place to start fusing glass is to make a set of coasters. You’ll enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of my studio and the one on one opportunity to create your own designs. You’ll leave the studio with the coasters in the kiln, and be eager to see your final glass fused coasters.
All tools, materials & supplies will be provided along with a snack and water. You may wish to bring a special treat or…
