Each class will begin with the basic rules to creating a mosaic. These are the guidelines artists have followed for centuries and give your mosaic structure. Now it's time to put your skills to work. Each student receives their tiles, boards and glue and we jump into the creation process glueing down individual tiles and creating your unique mosaic. During the creation process we will be available for guidance, questions and instruction. With your mosaic pieces glued, it will be safe to take home but needs a day to get sturdy and dry completely. The last step is a simple grout. Each student goes home with their beautiful mosaic and a goodie bag with grout, gloves and instructions on how to put the finishing touches on their artwork. In some cases you might be able to grout the same day if you do a small piece or finish quickly. If my schedule allows, you can stay longer and I will help you grout.
I've has been making colorful and abstract mosaics for 15 years using mixed media and polymer clay. My work can be found in galleries, cafes, schools, corporate buildings and private offices around Boston. A Massachusetts native, I graduated from Skidmore College, earned an MBA from Babson and spent 12 years in software marketing before pursuing this art dream. Now I teach workshops for all ages and host corporate team building groups. I look forward to creating with you!
