The experience will start in the Honey House with a honey tasting of all our unique Irish honeys, during which I will talk about the honeybee and what we do here at Coolmore bees with the native irish honeybee conservation. We will then (weather permitting) head out and open a beehive and I will explain all the goings on of the hive. Along the way, we can see all the native plants that the bees can forage on at different times of the year.

I grew up in a family of beekeepers, helping my Dad every season with the honey harvest. We have a conservation programme for our native Irish black bee, as we believe this bee is better suited to our mild climate. I have been beekeeping for almost 6 years, spreading my time between Ireland and New Zealand to learn as much as i can about these amazing insects !

The Honey House is a converted 400 year (animal driven) mill. There is only 2 remaining structures of its kind in Ireland and is uniquely placed in an old estate, surrounded by mature forests and gardens.
