体验内容

I welcome you to my studio and show examples of the typical Dutch craft: Staphorster Stipwerk. I will tell you in short about the origin of this method for decorating fabric and clothes.
We will use black fabric, readymade bandanas or headscarves, wooden stamps with spikes in all kinds of decorative patterns, and paint.
To make a proper stamp, the spikes must be all equally sunk in de wood. Therefore we use a bench drill. Everybody gets the opportunity to design one, but there are plenty of different stamps available to work with. To do so, make a dot-pattern and mark the holes on the woodblock. Use the bench drill to make equal holes. Just put the peaks in the gaps, no need for hammering, really.
Before we start decorating on our project, we must practice Stipwerk and make a lot of samples. While doing so, you will get ideas for a design, how to make a great pattern on your project, which colors and stamps to combine.
I will pass by everybody and advise you wich choices fits best with the project you have in mind. When you are confident about your plan, then you start with your project. With the help of white tailor's chalk, you transfer your design on the black fabric and then start dipping the stamps in the paint and on the cloth.

Tip: bring a jeans item to decorate.
While waiting for your project to dry, you can have a glass of wine and check out Pepavana's collection.
Other things to note
Requests for reservations from families with kids/teens are taken into consideration. This will be communicated to other applicants.
Note that we don't serve alcoholic drinks to minors.

I'm Pepa, designer at Pepavana, a slow fashion label where I have been producing original & sustainable fashion accessories since the start in 2008. At the same time, I have been sharing my vision of sustainability and recycling through workshops and lessons for kids and grown-ups.

I, in turn, learned to sew from my grandmother, and made my first pair of wide-legged blue jeans at the age of twelve in 1975. Thanks to my sewing and restyling skills, I was able to create my own style.

Now I teach others sewing and recycling skills, but also oldskool crafts. I am very passionate about sharing my knowledge on this to other people, no matter what gender, age, or level of experience. My workshops are educational but playfull ánd flexible!

It is a great way to connect with others while exploring hidden qualities and learning new skills.

集合地点
Art Studios Ruivenstraat
鹿特丹
Fancy yourself in a fashion studio, have a peek behind the scene, with patterns, samples, and hand made designs around you. It has a 4,5-meter high ceiling, white walls and lending windows, cutting table, and so on.
My studio, I am a sustainable fashion designer, is located in a collective building with several other artists. It's a former elementary school in Art Deco style in an old neighborhood known for its many crafts- and designer shops.

I loved this workshop, it was a kind of meditative way of painting, and I felt very enthusiastic afterwards. After a short introduction of Pepa, we first practiced the technique, and then we could choose a scarf or bag to decorate for real (you could also bring your own jeans to decorate!). You can work in a traditional way like the people in Staphorst do, or feel free to make a completely different decoration. Go with the flow! The workshop of Pepa is a place with a creative and warm atmosphere. And Pepa is a very friendly, calm and helpfull host.
