Port wine is produced from grapes grown in the northwest part of Portugal - Douro Valley region (one of the oldest vineyards areas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The local indigenous grapes used include Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Cão. Port’s characteristics distinguish it from the regular wines, since all its varieties have rich, intense, and very persistent aromas and flavors. In this experience you will understand the history, the main differences and the process of producing the main types of Port. You will also taste the following Ports: - 1 glass of Pink/Rose Port - 1 glass of White Port - 1 glass of Ruby Port - 1 glass of Tawny Port Additionally we will offer: - 1 cheese platter
I’m the owner of D’ÉPOCA Wine Bar in Porto (which is also a gourmet shop offering a good selection of Portuguese wines and other local products for sale). Besides being a wine enthusiast, I’m also a keen traveler and have been to more than 54 countries / 6 continents across the globe and visited wineries in places such as Argentina, Austria, Chile, France, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and New Zealand.

The experience will take place at D’ÉPOCA Wine Bar (which I own). The bar is in a very central location (only 200 meets from São Bento train station) in the heart of Porto.
