I am most definitely a morning person and I feel there is no better way to start the day than a beautiful trail run up Boulder’s Lion’s Lair Trial. Lion’s Lair is a far less traveled trail than most in Boulder County and loved by the locals. We will meet at the Centennial TH parking lot off of Sunshine Canyon at 7AM. From there we will head up the Canyon trail, connecting to Lion’s Lair. The trail is absolutely perfect for runners! There is a moderate grade alternating between inclines and smooth mountain trail. You quickly find yourself into the deep wilderness just a mile from town. Along the way, crooked pine trees provide shade as you climb up a series of switchbacks. We will see open meadows and incredible views as well as a possibility for some local wildlife. Once at the summit of Mount Sanitas, we will welcome the day with a photo and a smile! We will then descend carefully down the short steep side of Mount Sanitas making the perfect 5.3 mile loop back around to the Centennial TH.
My passion for running is different than most competitive runners. I genuinely enjoy being outside in nature, especially when I can meet new people. Nature is my medicine! I practice a holistic lifestyle and I am always looking to connect with others who share the same interest. I have been lucky enough to explore amazing, unreached places with running over the past 12 years. I recently helped co-found a company called Big Things Crewing which is an adventure crew and mountain guide business in Boulder, CO. Our goal is to inspire people to get outside and DO BIG THINGS.
Lion’s Lair just recently became a designated trail in 2014. We will run up Sunshine Canyon Trail connecting to Lions Lair, then come down Mount Sanitas Trail making a loop back to Centennial TH.
