Starting at the source, we will talk about the cultivation of coffee including how we can promote sustainability and the challenges of production at origin. We then progress our journey into our craft with an interactive coffee roasting demonstration. Better yet, you'll get to be as hands on as you like! You will learn how the flavour of coffee can be manipulated by the roasting process, and the secret to unlocking the many delicate flavours within. We will then taste three to four different single origin coffees through 'cupping', exploring the flavours of each bean. You'll be able to consider what flavours you enjoy most and with our guidance, create your own unique blend to take home.
My husband and I are the team behind Groundskeeper Willie Coffee Roasters. We have been roasting coffee for over five years and are passionate about sharing its secrets. We have traveled the world sourcing incredible coffee and learning about coffee production at its origin. We started our journey roasting coffee in Vancouver, Canada where we won several awards including several silver medals at North America's largest coffee roasting competition. We are now roasting coffee on the beautiful Sunshine Coast and want to share our knowledge and love for coffee with visitors to the region.
We will conduct the workshop within a warehouse that is our coffee roastery. You'll be able to see behind the scenes of the roastery as well as explore the cafe.
There is street parking available on Allen St and surrounds. Photos are very welcome, feel free to bring along a camera. We suggest leaving kids and babies at home as we'll be using industrial equipment and there will be some noise, heat and dust. There is a bathroom facility on site.
