Learn hand embroidery in a relaxed, creative environment at my studio, and make a keepsake London map. You will start by learning basic embroidery stitches, and practice these on the provided fabric before moving on to embroidering your London map which is based on my original drawing. You can embroider this with your favourite spots or routes, and create something truly personal. The class is suitable for all levels, and beginners are welcome. You will get lots of one-on-one help, top tips, and a list of London fabric shops and haberdasheries to take away and explore. Please note I also host a full day embroidery experience for those of you who wish to make a personal map of your favourite place. In this you will learn to make a beautiful embroidered map of a place close to your heart. Click for more details https://www.airbnb.co.uk/experiences/199429
I’m an award-winning textile artist and experienced tutor. I create characterful textiles for people who love simple, timeless style. My special love is maps, and I make large-scale embroidered wall hangings of city maps. My work is held in several private collections in the UK and Internationally and can be seen at the some of the most discerning galleries in the UK and the US. Recently I was commissioned to make a an embroidered map for London's iconic store Liberty for their permanent collection. You can see it hanging on the 4th floor in the rugs department at the store on Regents Street. Working from my studio in buzzy Central London, I find inspiration from the energy and moods of the city, but also from the unforgettable colours and textures of my childhood in India.
