The Woolly Egg Ranch is a historic family farm located just a few miles north of the Gold Gate Bridge on your way to Muir Woods. During your visit, we’ll put on suits and open hives, learn about beekeeping basics, and even sample honey right off the comb. We’ll start the visit with a short farm orientation and learn the basics of beekeeping safety and etiquette before each visitor puts on a bee suit. Then Jennifer will open hives, pull out frames of comb and show you what the bees are doing based on each season. For those feeling brave, you can even hold a frame of comb in your hands while you watch the bees busy at work. Jennifer will share bee stories, tell you how these amazing animals live and work, and if we’re lucky you’ll even spot the queen among all those worker bees. Once the hives have been closed off and we are out of our bee suits, Jennifer will bring out a fresh comb of honey so you can taste what flowers the bees are pollinating that season. She will also have honey from other seasons to sample and will have some for sale to take home with you.

Jennifer has over 15 years of experience in tending bees, raising hives and mentoring other beekeepers throughout the Bay Area. Since 2014, she has been hosting classes that teach subjects on basic beekeeping all the way to raising your own queen bees. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge of bees in a way that makes visitors feel comfortable and safe, while having a close up look at bees in ways that most people never get to experience.
We will have samples of honey from different seasons to taste and purchase to take home with you.
We will provide all necessary suits, veils and gloves for safe beekeeping.
The Woolly Egg Ranch is a fifth generation farm in a coastal valley, surrounded by forest and national parks on the way to Tennessee Valley Beach. We raise chickens and ducks to provide eggs to local markets in Marin, plus we have a flock of sheep and an alpaca named Bernadette who graze the hills above the farm. The hills and surrounding areas provide special honey varietals from plants found only along the coast of California.
最多可接待10位参与者，参与者需年满12岁。 No experience around bees is necessary, and Jennifer can tailor your experience based on whatever level you bring to beekeeping.
Perhaps your curiosity of bees is slightly dampened by your fear of getting stung. You’re not alone! Jennifer is an expert in leading people on beekeeping adventures, and she puts your comfort and safety first. She’ll outfit you with all you need to experience beekeeping minus the stings.
