Classes take around 2 hours and are designed for beginners. During that time you’ll: - learn how to wedge clay properly - center it on the wheel - get to know basic potter's tools, - make your first simple cylindrical shapes (depending on your progress we can also try making small bowls - yay!) In the meantime I'll also tell you a bit about the whole process of making stoneware ceramics so you'll know what happens next with the bowl you've just made! All that while slowly sipping tea and relaxing by the wheel :)
Hi! I'm a potter and an owner of a small ceramic studio located in Warsaw. I wheel throw tableware for individual clients as well as restaurants and boutique hotels under my own brand "Lumo Ceramic". I got so immersed in my work that I started to miss teaching (used to do that a lot) and having contact with people (yep, I became a clay hermit of sorts ;). That's why I decided to open up my studio to anyone wiling to try out pottery (don't know if you've heard, but it's supposed to be the new yoga) and spread love for hand crafted objects. You just wait and see how satisfying it is!
I personally love working on a wheel with a steaming cup of tea at hand.
I provide profesional wheels as well as all the tools and materials you may need including a much needed apron ;)
We'll be working in my ceramic studio which is located in the basement of an apartment building, around 20-min tramway ride form the city centre. It's a well organised and clean space that I share with my sculptor friend so you might also meet her in passing during your visit.
Please wear flat shoes and comfortable clothes, bearing in mind that despite the apron you might get a little dirty. (nothing to worry about - clay washes of easily). Also trousers make more sense when you sit by the wheel.
If you wish I can fire and glaze your pots so they can be send back to you although you would need to cover the shipping cost to your country. We can discuss all the details on the day of the event.
