This ain’t your Mama’s Muscadine! North Carolina vineyards are maturing, producing award-winning wine, ranging from Chardonnay, Malbec & Sangiovese to Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot. Join the NC Wine Gals for weekly food and wine tours of the Yadkin Valley. We depart from Charlotte, and highlight the best NC wine paired with local food. Don’t worry if you don’t know anything about wine, we’re here to guide you! Each tour consists of 4 vineyards and 4 food pairings ranging from meatballs & Barbera (med red) to cheese & rosé. We grab a bottle of wine at each vineyard and enjoy a small meal that compliments the wine. Normally, we reserve one of the 4 vineyards for a full tasting. There is an UNSWEET wine tour. Friday & Saturday Tours: Expect tours on these days to feature the full spectrum of Carolina wine from white, rosé to red. Sunday Tours: Expect tours on Sundays to be reserved for all Carolina grown red wines. Occasionally Harry the wine dachshund comes on our wine tours. He is cute & always a gentleman. We always ask to make sure this is ok with tour participants.
Hi ya'll I am Megan. One half of the NC Wine Gals. I have lived in the Carolina's for over 10 years and absolutely love our wine. It has come a long way since from the days of super sweet Muscadine. My day job is doing food & wine tours of Portugal & Croatia, so to have top quality wine in my own state makes me extremely happy. I am not a wine snob and if you don't know anything about wine, that's ok, I am here to guide you and help you find the wines you like to drink. Not all wine in NC is sweet and I have scoured wine country for the best vineyards making truly exceptional wine. Other experiences simply drive you to a vineyard & let you do a tasting, I hand pick the best wines at each and pair it with the best local food.
4-5 Food Pairings
Hand Picked Wine at 3 Vineyards, about 5 Glasses of Wine & 1 Vineyard Tasting. Saturday tours focus on reds, whites & rosé…
We visit 4 vineyards that change from week to week, both small boutique and larger established vineyards. We spend 60 minutes at each which allows time to explore the grounds or do a full vineyard tasting.
Will there be sweet wine on this tour? No, this tour focuses on varietals not known for their sweetness. The sweetest wine we serve will be the Shelton Riesling. You will have the opportunity to try sweet wine at any of the vineyards if you desire.
