I'll pick you up in Victoria and we'll drive to Sidney by van (approximately 40 minutes). We'll get in the kayaks and go for a 2 hour paddle among a cluster of protected islands. The area is known as the gulf islands and is teeming with wildlife. Eagles, herons, cormorants, seals, otters, minks, porpoises and sea lions are common sights. Intertidal life abounds in the shallow channels that are only accessible by kayak. After the tour I'll drop you back off in downtown Victoria. The evening tour allows us to be on the water at a quieter time of day when wildlife is more active, and enjoy the "golden hour".
Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets
On the tour, we visit a seal colony, an ancient First Nations village site and a thriving tidal channel. I'll deliver short interpretational talks on each topic, pointing out highlights of this beautiful and unique area.
This is a tour that is accessible to all ages and experience levels. If you haven't been kayaking before, don't worry. Anyone can do it and our pace is always leisurely. I will do everything to ensure your comfort is met. You don't need to get your feet wet. Bring an extra layer and sun protection.
