If you're an experienced traveller who loves history and learning about other cultures this is the tour for you! We will meet at the Pyramid Park in San Andres Cholula, right next to the Regional Museum and Pyramid. From there we will begin our walk. Our first stop is the Church of San Andres where I will show you one of Cholula's best kept hidden treasures. We will continue walking through San Andres until we reach the archaeological site. Before exploring the site we will walk up to the Iglesia de los Remedios, the church that sits on top of the pyramid. We will then proceed to the site museum and then enter the tunnels that go through the pyramid and lead to the open ceremonial center. I will give you an in depth explanation about Cholula's ancient history and the structure and composition of the archaeological site. From there we will take our final walk down to the San Gabriel Complex in downtown San Pedro Cholula. Here we will visit the main church, the Royal Chapel, and the Franciscan Convent and you will learn about the old and present uses of each building. During the entire tour I will provide specialized and detailed information you won't find anywhere else that will allow you to really immerse yourself in the amazing wonders of Cholula's Prehispanic and Colonial past. Our tour ends at the Zocalo of San Pedro Cholula.
I'm an archaeologist and historian who has been living and working in Cholula and Puebla for almost 20 years. My passion is to share the real version of history with others and Cholula is an amazing place to do just that. I have 10 years of teaching experience and I love to exchange ideas and learn new things from others. I'm fluent in English, Spanish, and French and offer my experience in any of those languages.
The tour includes the entrance fee to the museum and archaeological site.
The tour has 5 main stops: the Church of San Andres, the Church of Los Remedios, the archaeological museum, the pyramid and archaeological site, and the San Gabriel Complex. Additional information is provided in the tour description.
