We'll meet at Austin's animal shelter and begin with an inspiring introduction to the city's no-kill movement and policies that result in the saving of over 95% of the animals that come through Austin's shelter (the largest shelter in the US to achieve these results)! I'll lead our group on a tour of our impressive shelter, demonstrating how the whole city comes together to save lives. Each guest will be able to walk about 3 shelter dogs and give the dogs some much needed love and exercise. We will take photos that will highlight the dog's adoptability and raise awareness. Know that 100% of your payment for this experience will be donated back to the shelter, providing funds for the care of the very dogs we will meet on your visit!

I have hosted individual and group guided rescue dog walks at Austin's local animal shelter, Austin Animal Center, for over 3 years through my organization 1Dog1Hour, that I founded with my friend Melissa in 2016. We have led groups as small as 1 person and as large as 15 people (from local Austin companies volunteering as a group) on guided shelter dog walks. These walks are as impactful on the volunteers as they are on the dogs themselves. I have also been on the board of a greyhound rescue (GALT - Central Texas) for 5 years as the foster and events coordinator. I am passionate about the no-kill movement that is central to Austin's city culture, and teaching others about how to be an agent of change for shelter dogs.
1Dog1Hour is a nonprofit organization who's mission is to inspire and guide people toward resources and opportunities to volunteer with and exercise shelter and rescue dogs. 1Dog1Hour is Austin-based and was founded in 2016 by Catelyn Silapachai and Melissa Massello and formally incorporated as a nonprofit in 2019.
We will meet at Austin's animal shelter and begin with a tour of the indoor facility and sprawling outdoor grounds. I will show the group how to walk dogs safely, and guide our group to walking trails and play yards where the dogs can release some energy and enjoy a much needed walk.
