We will arrange a time on which we´ll meet each other. I will tell you the history of the ship and the area you´re staying in. Then we will sail on the Westeinderlake for a couple of hours and you´ll experience the area as no other tourist will! You can see the unique and undiscovered spot right below the busy districts of Amsterdam and give you a wonderful experience.
I started sailing when I was 6 years old. Looking at my present age, I have more that 50 years of sailing experience. Sailing Dutch historical flat-bottomed ships has been my passion for more than 40 years. It never bores me. In my early days of sailing, I owned an 18 meter sailing ship with no engine in it. We sailed every weekend, entered ports, passed through locks and sailed many regattas. It was a period in which I really learned how to sail these enormous ships. Quite recently, as a guest teacher, I have shared my knowledge several times on sailing schools. I like to make other people successfull by giving them responsibility: literally I let them take over the rudder. People really appreciate this: they feel they have been the skipper although they have never sailed before.
In the evening we will have a special typical Dutch meal. Simple but very tasteful. We sail to windless area where we will…
We will sail on the lake and also through narrow canals. We will try not start the engine since the wind is our fuel.
- Never sailed before? No problem, sailing experience is not required. - The ship is fully equipped: cold and hot running water, gas stove and oven, toilet, etc. - Put on comfortable clothes.
