Mumbai, India’s most populous city, is the entry point for many travellers but is often overlooked. The city is known as a city of contrasts with massive slums yet skyscraper homes worth millions. Mumbai can be daunting yet there is a side to it like no other. Between the hustle and bustle of city life lies a booming social enterprise and sustainability scene that is driven by local social innovators. The Sustainability Walk introduces travellers to the enterprises run by these social innovators, that are making an impact not only on the environment but on the people too. Together, we’ll explore Colaba, a gentrified area perfect for exploring on foot. Although a new and trendy area, it still maintains its authenticity of its previous life as a port. As we walk through the area, we’ll discuss the social impact initiatives across Mumbai with a focus on women, the environment, public spaces and giving back. We’ll visit some of these home-grown initiatives such as modern galleries, designer stores and restoration projects creating inclusive public spaces in the city. We’ll even help you buy a sustainable piece of fashion! We hope to show you the charm of Mumbai that so many people miss out on!
