The apartment has been selected by Alistair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay' (the first in York). This spacious apartment has been lovingly restored and styled by its artist owners and features their original artworks (paintings/lights). The apartment has solid oak flooring, antique Persian rugs and a combination of period French and contemporary designer furniture which contributes to the apartment's special character. A stunning set of 18th century chateau doors divide the living and bedrooms and provide the 'wow factor' of this charming find.

The apartment is within our family house but completely private with its own entrance. Your hosts are on hand, though, for advice on local attractions, restaurants and places to visit for day trips.
'Atelier 22 York' is situated in York's 'Cultural Quarter', a few minutes walk from the Yorkshire Museum, the Theatre Royal, York Art Gallery and the Minster.
The city's top eateries are a stone's throw away : Roots, The Star Inn The City, Betty's, Skosh, Partisan, Le Cochon Aveugle, as well as numerous pubs and bars; a gentle stroll back home at night.
The beautifully restored medieval buildings of Stonegate and the Shambles provide the perfect setting for some last minute shopping.
York's many attractions, including The Minster, Yorkshire Museum and Gardens, Treasures House, Fairfax House, Castle Museum, National Railway Museum, City Walls, Theatre Royal, City Screen Cinema, Betty's famous Tea Rooms are all 5-10 minutes walk away as well as beautiful riverside walks and restaurants, pubs and bars too numerous to mention. So a car taxi/bus is not a necessity at all.
A walk through the tranquil Museum Gardens, a couple of minutes away, past the medieval ruins of St. Marys Abbey and the restored 3rd century Roman Multangular tower brings you into the pedestrianised heart of the city.
